The science isn’t ‘settled’; it’s just that their is more to talk about, and to be included in the discussion must be the real world costs of the various mechanisms by which it is proposed to cut emissions, be it a cap-and-trade system, a carbon tax, or even direct regulation. Many analysis project the costs outweigh the benefits. There’s lots of evidence that the global poor have become steadily less poor under capitalism, a big deal when looking at the environmental ‘solutions’ which could threaten their continued prosperity. It is largely the amateur scientist who speak the loudest, and by issuing Laudato Si‘, Pope Francis joined the ranks of those amateurs.

We support the views of Bjorn Lomborg – money should be used to raise living standards and reduce risk, rather than trying to re-engineer the entire planets energy structure.
