Calgary’s own indie film outfit, Two Crater Moon, has announced a partnership with indie comic artists Justin Heggs and Nick Johnson to develop their hit web-comic WOLF HANDS into a digital short for Telus Storyhive.

Two Crater Moon announces launch of Wolf Hands film.

Calgary, AB – Two Crater Moon is proud to announce the official Telus Storyhive campaign launch of Wolf Hands, an adaptation of the revered local comic book series, starring Shane McLean and directed by Braden Brickner.

Wolf Hands tells the story of Vaughn Miller, who after being mauled by a dying were-wolf, must go on the run in fear of his developing curse hurting the people he loves. Trouble follows him in the form of Professor Orchid, a maniacal scientist hell-bent on capturing Vaughn and exploiting his newfound abilities for his own nefarious ends.

A horror/comedy in the vein of Edgar Wright and Sam Raimi, Wolf Hands is a viciously entertaining romp that strives to capitalize on the coming Halloween festivities as the Telus Storyhive short film competition officially commences on October 26th, 2015.

The independent film community has praised the work of Braden Brickner on numerous occasions. Most notably for his currently touring film; The Shooting of Dan McGrew, a Yukon-based Western which nabbed the award for “Best Drama” at the Edmonton Short Film Festival. Braden also received critical acclaim early on in his career, bringing home an AMPIA award for “Best Student Film” for the SAIT production; Prisoner 7.

Upon successfully achieving the $10,000 grant to produce Wolf Hands, Two Crater Moon will debut the film on Telus Optik TV, before hitting the international film festival circuit.

Storyhive is a Telus funding program that develops digital shorts, web series, and music videos from artists in Alberta and BC. Project selection is based on community support, so it’s vital that fans take part in the voting process. Signing up to vote is free, and you can opt out of email updates.

Anyone can sign up to cast votes for their favourite projects over the next two weeks, so visit the Wolf Hands page here on Storyhive and give some support.

A successful short film run could run into a feature film, especially with the recent success of the similar (and similarly funded) Canadian indie film WOLFCOP. Appearing in the key roles will be Nick Haywood as the insane Professor Orchid, Sarah Troyer as rocker/masseuse Jenny Rose, and our very own Shane McLean as wolfhands himself: Vaughn Miller.

Heggs and Johnson posted this beautiful infographic to their Facebook page explaining exactly how you can support the film on Storyhive,
