This is the story of Mario’s Grand Prix triumphs, written against the background of those earlier years and the personal struggle of the Andretti family in the post-war period. Although Andretti has driven for other Grand Prix teams – he won his first championship race in a Ferrari – it is also the story of Lotus’ recovery from their worst ever season and Andretti’s part in the evolution of the pace-setting Lotus cars through 1977 and 1978.
