You may remember a few months back, when we were covering WOLF HANDS as they entered the Telus Storyhive funding race. We picked our top 10 Albertan projects from the pack, and we were thrilled to see PSYBORGS – one of our top three picks – made the cut.
The future, 1991. The evil General Blight and his T.O.X.I.N. rogues hold the fate of the world in the palm of their hands. Fortunately for humanity, John Carbon and the heroic PSYBORGS, armed with tremendous psychic powers, are ready to fight back.
Now PSYBORGS is complete and, come February 29th, you can catch the world première on STORYHIVE.COM. Not convinced? Check out this killer trailer they put together.
Pretty great, right? If you like Danger 5, Spoils of Babylon, Kung Fury, or anything of that ilk, this is the series for you. They’ll be having a live screening at the Plaza in Calgary soon, so you’ll be able to enjoy lasers and explosions as they should be seen: on the big screen.
But if you like what you see, and want to see more, this isn’t the end. One lucky series will receive extra funding based on Storyhive audience votes between that February 29th launch date and March 4th, so make sure you’re logging in every day to support this crew.
We’ll be keeping you enticed updated with behind the scenes peeks at the production and exclusive crew interviews, but I cannot stress enough how important your votes are. Storyhive has put the onus on the audience to defend what they want – don’t shy away. These are exactly the kind of campy, over the top films I want to see made in Canada: if all I have to do is vote online, that’s time well spent.
If something this weird is getting made in Calgary, we should all be behind it. It’ll make our long, brutal winters one heck of a lot more interesting.
